Short and Sweet With A Touch of Green

So I am super duper tired today. So I’m gonna keep it short and sweet today with some images SOOC. The bed is calling my name.

I think a cupcake is calling his name (T-Rex) by the way.

Oh No! She’s At It Again!

This picture is hilarious! So if you read yesterday’s Blog you know today is Sals Birthday! Unfortunately he’s not in any of the pictures because he’s in math class right now. Yech. So I’m letting you in on a little secret that he doesn’t even know about….I baked. You may be asking what’s the big deal about that? Well if you have read previous blog posts you know I don’t bake. I almost detest it. However I decided to try again. This time I made some Red Velvet cupcakes from scratch. Well kind of Red Velvet, I didn’t have Coco. So maybe they are just cupcakes with red dye in them, I’m still going with the Red Velvet thing though :).

Poor little Fat Face and I stayed home from work today. He’s still sick. I tried to take him to the Dr. but as luck would have it, the one and only at Urgent Care was on his lunch break, and on our way home Roman fell asleep for a little over three hours. By the time he woke up and came to the Dr’s office would have been closed. Ugh. Hopefully he’s a little better tomorrow. 😦

Well I’m off to try to frost these bad boys. Not sure if I’m going to make my frosting from scratch or use the stuff in a jar yet. I’m leaning towards the stuff that’s ready to go, hehe.

Early Birthday Celebration

We celebrated Sal’s birthday a day early today. Sal will be 32 tomorrow, but since it’s Sunday it was easier to get everyone together today. This was one of the best birthday celebrations for Sal to date. Well…Cabo was nice, but I liked this a ton too. We made a yummy dinner of Tri-Tip, baked Asparagus, rolls, and a Parisian Salad. We celebrated this year sans alcohol, which isn’t a big deal but it was much nicer. Weird how that seems more appealing when you grow up. 🙂

Just incase you couldn’t tell…my parents are on the left, Sal’s are on the right. Hehe. I’m sure I have said it before, but I got really lucky with my in-laws. They are both so sweet and welcoming.

Here is the birthday boy and his helper. I think this might have been the second or third time they blew out the candles 🙂 Ahhh…..poor little Roman is sick though. Can you see it in his eyes? I an not sure what he has, but if he’s not a little better by tomorrow were going to the Dr. Ugh, nothing better than a sick kid and the Dr. on your birthday. 😦

So….Im sure everyone is dying to know what Sal got for his birthday?! He got a new computer that I want to steal, a circular saw from my parents, and a couple more things, but since it’s not his real birthday yet its a surprise. As I said earlier in the post, this birthday was amazing! Good food and good company! What more do you need?

Watermark

Let me start of by clarifying why I created this watermark.  I have been thinking about it for a while now, ever since I put my first picture of the Phoenix up. Through WordPress I can see when someone takes my blog and “re-blog’s” it. That unfortunately happened with the Phoenix. I knew writing this blog would put myself out there for the world to see and possibly take, and while I was uneasy with it, I thought that no one would have interest in a no namers crappy pictures. While that still holds true, the protectiveness has come out. It may be my fault for exposing my family but I would still like to have control over what is published and shared. I created the watermark as a way to deter fake blogs from taking my stuff (I don’t think any credible blogs would). I in no way consider myself a photographer, and grappled with the “photography” on the end. While I am still uneasy with giving the impression to real photographers that I think I know what I’m doing by having a watermark, I hope that they understand, and don’t laugh so hard that water comes out of their nose.

On to the fun stuff! This picture was taken last night after playing in the mud. I am a HORRIBLE baker. I guess I didn’t get that gene from my Grandma…darn you!!!! It’s okay though, it’s still fun…kind of. My problem with baking is how everything has to be exact. Um yeah….Im more of a recipe tweaker. Needless to say the cookies are hard and a little tasteless. Like those ones you get in the giant tins with big sugar crystals on them. Oh well. The train picture was taken today, as well as the first one. The train turned out pretty good. Probably because I didn’t have to cook it, and Roman decorated it.

As you can tell I am still trying to get the hang of this prime lens and the low f-stop, and yes I am still in love.

Flour Shower

I’ve blogged about my love for cooking before, and because of my love for cooking, my parents got me a KitchenAid Stand Mixer for my birthday this year. Now, I’m not an eager baker but after some exploring there are a ton of other things you can do with this monster of a kitchen gadget. I’ve heard that among other things the ice cream attachment is amazing! Anyways, we had some bananas that were starting to go bad and I have an amazing banana bread recipe given to me from a co-worker so we broke out this beast of a mixer. As soon as I turned it on Roman was curious so I brought him up on the island to help out. He added all the ingredients. Next was turning it on to begin the mixing process, and in all of his excitement he turned it on high and all the flour went flying out! It was sooo classic. Like something out of I Love Lucy.

I have to say though that I LOVE this mixer and might start making breads even though I don’t really care for bread. I think I’ll be baking a lot this winter….anyone want some bread? 🙂
